“The criminal case involving allegations of wiretapping of Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto—with former Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo named as a suspect—has developed into questions of treason.

Current National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto has  emphasized that the handling of the case is purely a matter of law enforcement, while the Minister for the State Secretariat suggested the alleged actions in question point in the direction of treason.

Responding to the allegations of wiretapping of the President by Listyo, the country’s seventh president, Joko Widodo, urged all sides to respect the ongoing legal process. Raising the question: will the arrest of former National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo accelerate discussions in the House of Representatives (DPR) about whether to impeach Vice President Gibran?”
