“Put the Dough on Ice”: Indonesia’s National Deputy Assistant Attorney General Allegedly Told Co-Conspirator

A series of raids conducted by police officers between July 8 and 10, 2026, has once again highlighted the ties between Indonesia’s former Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah, and businessman Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang—also known as Ferry Boboho. After reviewing the case, police named Febrie a suspect in three corruption cases.
“We have conducted a case review and named two suspects: DR and FA,” Police Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, head of the Indonesian National Police Corruption Eradication Corps, said Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Police suspect the former deputy assistant attorney general was involved in corruption cases involving state-owned enterprises PT Asabri and PT Krakatau Steel, as well as irregularities in the procurement of coal supplies.
Investigators’ case against Febrie is also linked to the arrest of Ferry Boboho on July 29, 2025. Ferry was arrested on charges of assaulting a member of the Indonesian National Police’s Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) counterterrorism unit. The alleged assault occurred after Ferry discovered two Densus 88 members spying on him at the Hotel Borobudur four days earlier.
During questioning, investigators also probed matters involving Febrie Adriansyah. Ferry is known to have business ties to the former deputy assistant attorney general for special crimes.
Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes

Questioning of Ferry uncovered allegations of extortion involving property developer Tan Kian during the Attorney General’s Office handling of the PT Asabri corruption case. Febrie served as director of investigation for the Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) in 2022 and stepped down on Saturday, July 11, 2026.
Tan Kian was allegedly intimidated with threats that he would be named a suspect in the PT Asabri corruption case. A report in the Sunday, July 12, 2026, edition of Tempo magazine, titled “The Role of the President’s Inner Circle in the Police-Prosecutor Conflict,” covers the incident. In short, Febrie allegedly demanded a payment from Tan Kian in exchange for not naming him a suspect with Ferry acting as the intermediary.
In 2022, Ferry allegedly received S$5 million—wrapped in a red bag—from Tan Kian’s secretary. The handover allegedly happened at a five-star hotel in the Mega Kuningan area of South Jakarta. At the exchange rate at the time, the amount was worth approximately 55 billion rupiah (over $3 million) with Ferry keeping 5 billion rupiah for himself.
After receiving the money from Tan Kian’s secretary, Ferry allegedly went to Febrie’s home on Jalan Radio, Kramat Pela, South Jakarta. But Febrie refused to accept the money directly. “Hold on to it for now; let things cool down,” Ferry told investigators, quoting Febrie’s instructions. At the time, the PT Asabri trial was still ongoing.
After the trial ended, Ferry allegedly contacted Febrie to hand over the 50 billion rupiah ($2.8 million) from Tan Kian. Febrie allegedly said his emissary would collect the money in front of a fast-food chicken restaurant in Cipete, South Jakarta.
The emissary was alleged to be Nurman Herin. After receiving the payment from Ferry, Nurman allegedly went to Koin Money Changer, located about 100 meters from the meeting point. The money changer was next to d’Clan Signature café. Police later searched both locations as part of their investigation into Febrie.
Officers seized 7.2 billion rupiah ($400,000) from the money changer and 60 billion rupiah ($3.3 million) from d’Clan Signature café. The café had previously operated as Gontran Cherrier restaurant, with Ferry running the business at the time. The café was also where members of Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88), the counterterrorism unit, placed Febrie under surveillance on May 19, 2024—two months before they surveilled Ferry Hongkiriwang.
Café de’Clan is now believed to be run by Nurman and a lawyer named Don Ritto. Ferry had offered the license for the eatery to Febrie, who accepted and appointed Nurman and Don to manage it. Don Ritto has been named a suspect in these three cases and has denied that the money seized from his café was linked to any criminal activity.
Febrie also has denies involvement in the three corruption cases. He confirmed that he handled the PT Asabri corruption case but claimed the process was transparent. “It can easily be verified,” he said last Thursday.
As for Café de’Clan Signature, Febrie denied any involvement in the business. He also denied owning the 74 kilograms of gold bullion and 282 billion rupiah ($15.7 million) in cash found at his Sentul home during a police search. “We are confident that everything can be properly accounted for,” he said.
